https://jurnal.unima.cc/index.php/jotell/article/view/11367

This study aims to identify illocutionary acts in Jesus' conversations with the
people and His disciples in the New Indonesian Translation of the Gospel of
Mark, and to explain the contextual meaning of these illocutionary acts. This
study uses a qualitative approach with a documentation method, where data is
collected through text analysis of the New Indonesian Translation of the Gospel
of Mark. This method was chosen because it is in accordance with the aim of
understanding the illocutionary acts contained in Jesus' conversations, which
are expressed through His words and statements. The results of the study show
that Jesus often uses assertive illocutionary acts in expressing truths about the
Kingdom of God, forgiveness of sins, and moral teachings. These acts can be
found in various parts of the Gospel of Mark, such as statements about
repentance and faith delivered by Jesus to the people (Mark 1:15), as well as
His teachings about humility, sacrifice, and the importance of inner purity. In
Mark’s Gospel, Jesus also uses illocutionary acts to affirm that true greatness
lies in service and sacrifice (Mark 9:35, 10:45), and to teach that worldly values,
such as wealth, can hinder one’s spiritual journey (Mark 10:23-25). These
statements show how Jesus provides a new understanding of holiness,
relationship with God, and the moral principles His followers should uphold.
Oktavianus WerehIgnatius J. C. https://jurnal.unima.cc/index.php/jotell/article/view/11895

This study investigated the relationship between student anxiety and English presentation performance among 32 eleventh-grade students at SMK GKST 2 Tentena. Using a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive design, the data of this study was collected through a modified Foreign Language Class Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) questionnaire and direct observation of student presentations. Results revealed that 84.4% of participants experienced high anxiety, 12.5% moderate anxiety, and 3.1% severe anxiety when presenting in English. Regarding presentation performance, 40.63% of students demonstrated good performance, 37.5% fair, 18.75% poor, and 3.12% excellent. Pearson correlation analysis yielded a strong positive correlation (r = 0.840) between student anxiety and English presentation performance, indicating that higher anxiety levels significantly impacted students' ability to present effectively in English. These findings suggest that addressing anxiety factors—such as fear of making mistakes, negative evaluation, lack of preparation, and limited language proficiency—could improve students' English presentation skills. The study recommends implementing strategies like adequate preparation, positive mindset development, English skill improvement, creating supportive environments, and teaching relaxation techniques to help students overcome anxiety and enhance their presentation performance.

Rosliana KalepuNoldy PelenkahuNihta V. This research examinied how Cassie’s autonomy and social identity are
challenged throughout the film. The results indicate that Cassie frequently
experiences disapproval, criticism, contradictions, and restrictions on her
independence. The findings show that among the positive FTAs, there were 1
instances of disagreement, 6 of criticism, 4 of contradiction, 3 of dismissal, 5
of accusation, 2 of complaints, and 1 of face-saving. https://jurnal.unima.cc/index.php/jotell/article/view/11965

This study explores the impact of practicing English speaking with native speakers on the speaking fluency and confidence of EFL students at E-Fun Institute, Central Java. Implementing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 30 students from the intermediate speaking class, divided into an experimental group and a control group. Over four weeks, the experimental group participated in weekly 45-minute conversation sessions with native English speakers, while the control group engaged in peer-based speaking practice using conventional classroom methods. Pre-tests and post-tests were administered to measure students’ speaking fluency and self-confidence using standardized rubrics and Likert-scale questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26, including descriptive statistics, paired samples t-tests, and independent samples t-tests. The findings showed a statistically significant improvement in both fluency and confidence among the experimental group compared to the control group. These results support the view that native speaker interaction provides valuable linguistic input, lowers learners’ affective filters, and enhances motivation. The study concludes that integrating native speaker-based speaking practice is an effective instructional strategy to improve oral communication skills in EFL contexts, especially within non-formal educational institutions.
Avida Pramayshela Saputri

https://jurnal.unima.cc/index.php/jotell/article/view/11946

Speaking fluency is the ability to express thoughts, ideas, and feelings smoothly and coherently through spoken language. It is a fundamental skill that encompasses not only the act of speaking but also the capacity to communicate effectively. To express ideas clearly, one must possess focus, retain relevant information, and have a solid understanding of the topic being discussed. However, many students often face challenges in improving their speaking fluency. As a result, researchers and educators have increasingly turned to YouTube video tutorials as a supplementary tool in foreign language instruction. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of YouTube video tutorials in enhancing students' speaking fluency. The research employs a single-group pre-test and post-test design using a quantitative approach. A total of 20 eleventh-grade students from SMA Negeri 2 Tondano participated as the research sample. Pre-tests and post-tests were administered as instruments for data collection. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students' speaking fluency, with the average score increasing from 56.00 in the pre-test to 82.25 in the post-test. These results suggest that YouTube video tutorials can effectively enhance students’ English-speaking fluency, train their comprehension skills, and increase their motivation to learn foreign languages. However, the effectiveness of YouTube as a learning tool is influenced by several factors, including students’ learning proficiency and the ability of teachers or instructors to deliver lessons effectively.
Doni K N Towanga TowangaNihta V.
